The all-new 2020 Hyundai Palisade and the 2019 Honda Pilot, two mid-size sport utility vehicles, able to seat 8 passengers, are opposed in this comparative match
Starting from the 2019 summer, we should see arrive in Montreal and Laval the competitor of the 2019 Honda Pilot in this comparison, the all-new 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Nothing has been unveiled yet about its exact release date, towing capacity or selling price; we do know, however, that it can seat 8 passengers and that it’s trying its luck against the 2019 Pilot.
A 3.5-litre i-VTEC V6 engine with 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque resides under the hood of the Pilot, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission or an available 9-speed automatic, newly improved. Its towing capacity is of 2,268 kg when outfitted with the optional towing package. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system is offered on all 6 versions of the Pilot.
As regard to safety, the Honda features its Honda Sensing technologies, and the 2020 Palisade offers the Hyundai SmartSense, which includes the standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and the Adaptive Cruise Control. The Safe Exit Assist, Ultrasonic Rear Occupant Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist are available.
The 2020 Palisade will be fitted with a 3.8-litre V6 engine of 291 horsepower for the same torque than the Pilot, and it is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the HTRAC all-wheel drive system will be offered as an option. The hands-free power tailgate, Nappa leather seats and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display are also available.
The Honda SUV, for its part, proposes a cargo volume of up to 3,092 litres, one of the largest in its class, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 6 seconds, which is frankly impressive for a vehicle of this size, and what is more, it was rated best 2019 Mid-size SUV by the team of automotive journalists from the Car Guide.
The question, however, is whether or not the new 2020 Hyundai Palisade will be a threat for the 2019 Honda Pilot, which should not at all be a worry for the Japanese manufacturer. Come test drive the Pilot at your Spinelli Honda dealer in Montreal, close to Laval, and take advantage of our current promotional offers and our Honda financing plans.
